Harima Plant / Sakai Plant

Nagase ChemteX Corporation aims to build a comfortable work environment that is safe both for the mind and body by giving priority above all else to the safety of people working at our company, practicing the ethos of "safety first," which is the basis of our company activities. Based on the above recognition, the Harima Plant and Sakai Plant obtained OHSAS 18001 certification on December 14, 2012, after an audit by the Japan Quality Assurance Organization. Later, when ISO 45001 was issued as an international standard, we underwent a transition audit and obtained ISO 45001 certification on November 20, 2020. We will continue to set the ideal state of the Harima Plant and Sakai Plant as our ""Basic Philosophy"" and formulate its operation as our ""Industrial Health and Safety Policy."" Based on this policy, we will clarify risks and challenges, set targets for the business site and each department, and continue our efforts to establish bright and comfortable workplaces.

Occupational health and safety initiatives

We are taking various measures to ensure occupational health and safety.

Safety experience training

Based on the spirit of safety first, we have been taking initiatives to improve the work environment and make our facilities safer. However, as the safety activities progressed, the risk factors became latent, and we were concerned that employees would have fewer dangerous experiences and become less sensitive to danger. Therefore, from the viewpoint of education to improve hazard sensitivity, we introduced hazard simulation equipment in 2015 and started hazard simulation training, which all employees must attend.

We handle a large volume of hazardous materials, particularly focusing on preventing explosions and fires. Therefore, the hazard experience training is mainly related to solvent and dust explosions, including the mechanism of static electricity generation. There are also facilities to experience being caught in rollers and other rotating objects and finger pointing and calling to educate trainees on various risk sensitivities.

After the course is completed, a curriculum is created for each year of employment, and repeated training is provided in the form of special safety training.

This hands-on training is also open to visitors from companies affiliated with the NAGASE Group and neighboring companies, contributing to improvements in the risk sensitivity of many people.

Safety and Health Committee

In compliance with the Industrial Safety and Health Act, we instituted safety and health committees in our facilities accommodating 50 or more employees. Moreover, we established safety councils in plants, even when the law does not require it. Throughout the company, we engage in occupational health and safety measures that encompass discussions on various safety concerns, workplace patrols, and the promotion of 5S (Sorting, Setting-in-Order, Shining, Standardizing and Sustaining the Discipline) activities.
